What?

What?

Design and implement a LabVIEW program to simulate a traffic light system, managing traffic flow at a two-way intersection with an option to prioritize rush-hour traffic.

How?

How?

My lab partner, Bryce Plummer, and I:

  • Developed a LabVIEW program with digital outputs to simulate red, yellow, and green signals for both north-south and east-west directions.

  • Connected a PCB board to the NI-DAQ module for digital output signals to control the LEDs based on program logic.

  • Incorporated a power switch to control system operation and a rush-hour mode for dynamic timing adjustments.

  • Configured timing logic to prioritize the busy direction during rush-hour while maintaining safety intervals.

Results

Results

  • Successfully simulated traffic light operations with adjustable timing for rush-hour conditions.

  • Clear visual representation of light states ensured ease of understanding and usability.

  • Demonstrated functional control logic to prioritize high-traffic flow while maintaining safe operation.
